As the start of 2011 arrives, may we take this opportunity to wish you all a prosperous and peaceful New Year as we all strive to emerge from economic recession and to bring stability to our homes and businesses.
As a company, we hope to expand on our successes of last year which began in the first quarter with our group expansion and take over of Star Elm Ltd. and culminated in the last quarter with our Contractor of the Year Award 2010 (Turnover up to €20m) at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin.
Murphy New Homes continues to grow despite the downturn with an ever expanding radius from our Head Office in Banteer. The biggest challenge throughout 2010 was the ability of prospective customers to obtain finance from the beleaguered institutions. Hopefully, through a combination of nationalisation and external funding that problem will now be solved and the banks will resume lending again.
Murphy Commercial also continues to expand at a steady pace with continued year on year growth through school extensions, civil projects, demolitions and office buildings. Our latest project involves the construction of 12 no. apartments in Charleville for Firgrove Developments Ltd. and we hope to complete Phase 1 of this project by the end of Quarter 1 2011.
Star Elm also continues to expand at a quicker pace with frame and employee numbers up five fold since the original takeover in February 2010. Our intentions for 2011 will be to enter the UK market and consolidate our national profile as the leader in direct trade window and door supplies.
The overall strategy for Mgroup the next 12 months will be no different to other years….provide quality workmanship at market rates complemented with selective expansions to enhance and bolster our business model.
